Our Girl / Bluestone 42

I wonder if anyone is watching this series, about a female army medic in Afghanistan ?
Or has watched Bluestone 42 ?

There’s something strange about this. “Our Girl” is made in S.Africa, uses the same sets, and I assume the same production company, as the other series set in Afghanistan, “Bluestone 42“. A rather humorous series about a squad of bomb disposal personnel. Which is currently being repeated. I suppose it saves money, by making two series, on a similar subject, and sharing the same sets.

Hi All,
Bluestone 42 has been a good laugh considering the subject matter and like most armed service personnel are already thick skinned with varying degrees of warped senses of humour I think most probably have a good laugh too and more than likely can identify certain characters with their own colleagues.

I quite enjoyed ‘Bluestone 42’ (apart from troweling-on the stupidity of ‘stupid’ characters) but I was amazed that anybody, particularly the BBC, would transmit such a show while British Forces were still dying (or risked dying) in Afghanistan…

…yes, it is pretty dark gallows-humour, but still?

To me the humour is (or is meant to be) ‘British Army’ humour, but is it? How close does it come to the humour that British Forces are famous for in the real thing?
