Evening peopleβ¦
I went for a drive to Farnborough yesterday. Would have posted these earlier but, well, lets just say that there have been a few problems elsewhere (anybody got a good remedy for pest control?).
Anyway β this is the Gloster E28/39 replica mounted over a roundabout with very little parking close-by (security gets very, very jumpy, I warn you).

The SE5A is of course, a replica.
And a very fine replica it is too having recently (probably 2 years ago now) undergone refurbishment by it original builders AJD Engineering.

Apparently FAST are expecting a Jaguar and Gnat iminently.
Yess N200PR is outside at the moment by the compound. As for a Jag and a Gnat the place will be very much full with those then. Hope its the T2 thats on site, lovely respberry ripple scheme.

RAE/DRA/DERA is know called QinetiQ (that is the correct spelling and style). It is pronounced Kinetic.
Apparently FAST are expecting a Jaguar and Gnat iminently.

There are still a few but they are tucked away behind the trees to the west of the new hangars. They are
XW241 PUMA
XW566 JAGUAR T2
XW934 HARRIER T4
also Buccaneer XV344 is a gate guard but can not be seen from outside as it is on the airside of the new RAE/what ever they call themselves now HQ. There may also be a Mig 23 there but it is about 3 years since its been sighted.
Somewhere on the field should also be Vampire ‘U-1215’/XE998
which was in the now no more Q shed.
The AAIB now contains Premier N200PR after its argument with some trees at Blackbushe:rolleyes: .

Saw the golf club – but having once had to explain to clampers (elsewhere) that I parked where I had parked to photograph their charity shield presentation (and with the club captains permission too) I would rather park on the green of the eighteenth hole…

Great set of photos Flood, thanks for sharing. FAST is really coming on leaps and bounds.
Regarding the Gloster replica there is a public golf club just up the road with a public car park. I parked there back in November and then walked to the roundabout, no problems with security at all. Guess my silver/white hair is paying off at last π

Yep – missed it. Got an excuse though. Got chatting to one of the people inside (but to my eternal shame never got his name :() who went through and explained about an awful lot of the exhibits, then had to be chucked out after a quick two minute rush to look around for myself as they closed! Expect the shopping centre would have been well closed by the time I’d bimbled around trying to snap the United Arab Emirates logo’d liner…;)

Hi Flood!
Nice pictures of the planes I dive past almost every day, but you missed this one in Queensmead shopping centre!:D
Sorry the pictures are crap, but my digital camera is very old. π

And an interior shot – with a slice of DH Comet and Lightning simulator at the left (the simulator has Lightning F1 XM171’s ejector seat!), and flying pressure suits, targets to the right, and models and targets above…
