The Reserve Store – Cobham Hall – was open today. Nice!
1/ Barracuda sections – DP872
2/ Some of the items stored on the walls, etc – in this case canopys from Sea Vixen, Scimitar, and others that I didn’t recognise (or was able to read the labels…;)). Maybe you know them?
3/ A float. This was described to me by a very helpfuk man as being what was listed in the program as Stabilimento Construczioni Aeronautica RNAS Airship SR1 – but I think it is the front half of a Swordfish float…
4/ Meteor WS103 – in bits!
5/ An over view.

did you get any close ups of the Skyraiders or Gannets? (Or anthing else bizarre looking with an arrestor hook?)
Cheers.. Will
Very nice selection of suff, cheers. PS No worries, by close ups I didnt mean much other than, well just pictures!! It takes me back to the good old days of the Cornwall Aero Park, before Flambards, rollercoasters, general lack of aircraft  Does anybody know what the future holds for the old Helston Skyraider parked in bits outside? It would be great to see a Royal Navy AEW Skyraider in the air, there are quite a few dotted around the world as they were then used an Sweden as target tugs, much like the Firefiles that have appeared at Duxford.

I think ZA195 was a BAe demostrator SHAR for long periods during the 80s and 90s.
I wondered where they had put the Lighter too since it disappeared from the car-park.

Sea Harrier ZA195
Attached is the picture of the Sea Harrier ZA195 round the back of the Cobham Hall unfortuneately with a trailer parked in front of it and a tarpaulin over the nose.

Yes! The Hunter T.8M would be nice but I could take the P1127 and BAC 221.
Here is the BAC 221 the first time I saw it at Farnborough 13 Sept.1964.
I was only 14 at the time, so please excuse the head! This was one of the rare colour print films that my father bought for his camera…he bought the films and I took the photos! I suppose now you want to see my shots of this when it was the Fairey Delta 2?

…and here is Yeovilton’s P.1127, XP980…
1) When I first saw her in the static park at Biggin Hill’s Battle of Britain Day, 17 Sept.1966.
2) 12 years later, stored by Flight Refuelling at Tarrant Rushton, 10 May 1978.
At this time is was fitted with the wings from Harrier XV751!
3) Another 10 years later, and here it is painted as a ‘Sea Harrier’ used for ground instructional used by the School of Aircraft Handling at Culdrose on 27 July 1988.
Any more history lessons required?

Okay, here is what I have on Hunter T.8M, XL580. This aircraft was one of the blue and white ‘Admirals Barge’ aircraft in the mid-60s,but I never got to shoot it in that scheme. Here are the photos:
1) In silver/dayglo with 759 Sqn. coded ‘800/BY’ at Brawdy 3 Aug 1968.
2) Two years later as ‘743/VL’ with FRADU at Yeovilton 2 Sept.1970.
3) Another 12 years later, converted to T.8M of 899 Sqn. at Yeovilton 31 July 82
Enjoy!

Forgot to look at the images of SHars in the scrap compound that I took later. Doh!

Nice pictures Flood.
Also outside round the back of the building was another Sea Harrier FA.2 minus it’s tail which according to the new Wrecks and Relics has donated it to XZ499.

RATS! Missed that one.
Its the former RNAS Culdrose WV106, looking the worse for its time in the elements…

Another Skyraider
Another Skyraider stored outside of the Cobham Hall. I too went yesterday but I think the photos have been well covered so far so I wont post them unless anybody has any particular requests.

Great shots Flood. I’m fascinated by the Barracuda, looks like they’ve got quite a lot of substantial structure there, and I seem to recall they retrieved a wing from a Scottish island a few years ago. Did they mention any plans to recreate / restore DP872?

As always great pictures Dave 😉 Anna 😀

I thought Sea Vixen FAW.1, XJ481 had been repainted and put on the main gate? Also, thought the Buccaneer S.1, XK488, was currently being refurbished. Seems not a lot happening there! 🙁
The Vixen was not put on the gate thankfully, the last Vixen that did that went to the scrap heap a few years later.
XK488 is having a well earned rest from the elements and having coins thrown on her tail.
