Apologies if this has been discussed before, but were the Spitfires featured in the TV series “Over Here” ever pictured all together?
I did have a picture on the PC of MH434 and PL965 in their “Over Here” markings airborne together (and I think this was originally cribbed from “Spitfire – Flying Legend” and put on someone’s website), and there was Septic’s recent pic of AR501 as WO-L, but what of the others?
Also, what about the two Bf109s (G-USTV and D-FEHD) which shot up the “American airbase” in the programme?

This was indeed a very good programme. I used to have both episodes on video but these days can sadly only locate the second one. I’d love to get the first half again someday.
I’ve wondered since seeing this if John Sullivan is a warbird aviation fan. Does anyone know if he takes an interest further than writing this show?
I liked how they used Sam West for the young pilot and his dad Timothy playing him as an old man. Very effective.

Dougal to Barker “Sir, it was only a few weeks ago that you told us you’d be putting an end to night patrol for good?
Barker to Dougal Yes I did Dougal, but in a funny old sort of a way, I lied.”

I have it in VHS too somewhere.
I hope they do release it on DVD someday.

Always thought it was a great piece of entertainment, but then you’d expect that as it was written by John Sullivan, with of course, a top class cast. 🙂
Group Captain Barker to Archie: Have your heard about Pearl Harbour?
Archie: Is that the girl form the laundry? 😀
Cheers

“Close the door please Tully…”
I have it on VHS somewhere, it was shown on Sky channel UK Drama a couple of years ago. I’m sure it’ll be shown again at some point.

I thought the way the ending was done was very good…
IIRC wasn’t it mooted when shown that it could’ve been a pilot of a new sitcom series?
I still have it taped off the TV on VHS somewhere.

Now there’s a show i would like to see again, It was written by John Sullivan who wrote “Only Fools and Horses” and “Citizen Smith” too.
Lets hope they do release it on DVD at some point, There’s quiet a market in putting old series out on DVD now so who knows.

Cheers for the info chaps
Didn’t realise there were that many spits involved as the only flying scenes were of a lone spit.
I also seem to remember Sally B starred as well, with some very good digital trickery to make it seem as though there was more than one B17 in formation.
I still can’t help but twitch every time someone mentions the Luftwaffe!
Yep, Sally B appears in it, and Sam West (in MH434) accidentally shoots her up!

It wasn’t released on DVD or video, far as I’m aware.
There were five real Spits (strangely no replicas!) and two Bf109s involved.
The Spits were:
AR501 – WO-L
MH434 – WO-A
ML407 – WO-T
TE566 – WO-P
PL965 – WO-F
The two Bf109s were G-2 G-USTV (“Black 6”) and D-FEHD (“Black 2”), the former was repainted temporarily into a grey-green scheme for this series.

Makes sense, as the ‘village’ scenes were filmed at Castle Acre.

It was filmed at West Raynham in norfolk.

I’m a great fan.
W/C: Call me ‘Wingco’, that’s what my men do
Busty barmaid: Yes. I’ve heard them call you something like that
And as for Cousin Rosemary!
Truly great programme. I’m just about to transfer my VCR copy to DVD for posterity.

TE566, ML407, AR501 and PL965 were pretty much static throughout the two parts, I think, although there was some photos done with them in their TV markings.
I wouldn’t mind a copy – pretty please?? 😉

Is Over Here available on dvd or has someone got it on tape that they’d copy for me? please please pretty please!
By: Bradburger - 20th January 2005 at 17:09
Yep. And so was AR501 but I don’t recall seeing much of it or TE566 for that matter!
WO-P I believe were the codes worn by 566 btw.

Wasn’t Guy Black’s TE566 in this too?

See some screenshot’s I took from the series:
1. MH434
2. MH434 and Sally B after the friendly fire incident
3. Hans Dietes (OFMC operated) Me109-G10
Sorry about the poor quality, but I think they can give a good impression.
