Why do people get so frustrated at airlines that overbook flights?
In most cases, people that fall victim to being denied boarding on a flight that they have a confirmed reservation for are re-routed at the airlines expense and also offered compensation, so why all the fuss and abuse?

I agree with you Shamrock. I regularly see overbooked KLM flights at work, if I had booked a seat on the flight and paid for a ticket, and had somewhere to go, I would be really frustrated if the airline told me I couldn’t then travel on that flight, even if I were to be booked on the next flight or a flight out of a nearby airport.
Another annoying thing is, with the advent of internet check in, you can be offloading pax who could travel when the internet pax don’t turn up. But you can’t offload the internet check in until just before departure because as far as we know, they could be fully intending to travel!

You can totally understand their frustrations, they may have made plans and are oing to be late etc.

Simple fact is that they see them selves been at the airport and should be allowed to get on the aircraft. Pax see an airline over selling there flights as been greedy and well stupid ive had it all the last few days after been telling pax there on standby due to overbooking!
For the Last 2 days now nearly all the KLM flights that i have been checking in at NCL have been oversold! The pax just dont seem to be able to get there heads around it! One of the worst things about my job is having to tell pax at the gate that they cant get on! Done it Twice today!
