Oops, I didn’t realize I was on flypast when I did this thread, and as it was originally about the Osprey I figured I should change it.
I’m curious though how many P-39’s and P-63’s are currently flying? What all models?
Any more in the works?

The CAF have an operational P-39 which, as far as I’m aware, is the only one currently flying. The Kalamazoo Air Zoo also have a flyable 39, an ex-CAF machine, but they are no longer flying any of their warbirds. The CAF also have a P-63 flying, the one and only F model. Bob Pond has a flyable P-63 at the Palm Springs Air Museum. The YAF has a flyable P-39 and P-63 though, again, they have decided not operate any of their aircraft for the time being. The ex-Frank Borman P-63 which was restored by Square One several years ago is now with John Bagely (sp?) and attended the last Reno event. (as part of the RR trophy competition) Planes of Fame is making good progress on the TFC P-39 which I had a chance to view a couple of weeks ago during the annual airshow, along with the “new” TFC P-38. The ’39 is looking very nice up on its gear. Maybe the experience with the TFC bird will give PoF a push towards getting their own P-39 flyable once again. (anybody know the history and internal condition of that one?) Aside from those there are quite a number of P-63 airframes either under restoration to fly, or being viewed with an eye towards restoration to flying. So my final current count is:
3 flyable P-39s with only one currently being operated
4 flyable P-63s with two or three currently operational (I’m not sure of the status of the Pond airplane)
PS- The Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona has a beautiful static example of the Kingcobra on display also that many enthusiasts are unaware of.

Thanks for the update! That’s exactly the info I was looking for. I hope more of them get back into the air.

I think the fact you posted this question at the Flypast forum says it all…
