P-40 to stay in NZ also

Hi All,

Just got a e-mail that the P-40 was also going to stay down-under is this true.

Also whats up the UK Warbird scene it seems everytime I check on line I see another aircraft either heading back across the pond to us here in North America or being shipped Down-Under.

Indeed you did. I have a couple of shots at home of Janie at the pumps, and I think you managed to get yourself into every one of ’em…

Can’t rely on some people just to stay out of the way can you? We were attempting to drain Little Grandsden of all the fuel we could find at the time 😉 Had to get home somehow.

Cheers YAK11fan

Thanks for putting me straight on this one, usually you don’t see one without the other, hence my confusion.

I got (relativley) close to Janie at Little Gransden last year and she does look superb.

As for BBD, I love the noseart she is a real beauty.

More Mustangs!!!! mmmmmm 😀

Yep thats right, Maurice has owned Janie since 1997 and fully restored her to the condition you see today, as for paint schemes for the project some have been spoken about but it’s a long way off yet.

Big Beautiful Doll is the ex OFMC Mustang now owned (for a similar period of time) by Rob Davies and is in ever improving condition and lovingly looked after.

The best thing is both owners love to fly their aircraft and can often be seen flying about just for the fun of it rather than just at airshows.

See, told you that you can’t have too many Mustangs 😉

It’s reported that the Corsair has been sold in NZ and the La9 is up for sale, which backs up what I was told a few months ago. I am glad our Southern Hemisphere friends are seeing more aircraft coming to their shores. I hope they enjoy them as much as we have. There is plenty more arriving here this year. Anyway I hope they keep going to NZ I am emigrating there soon 🙂

A quick question on CAA flight ops.

Have they change if so is that why alot of the UK flyers are leaving the UK for better Flying Skys?

YAk11 your right yor are getting some progects but they are PROGECTS not flyers. I bet in due time they will be traveling across that big pond and return to the States except the Gannet of course you all can keep it.What Drugs were the designers on when they came up with that Beast:p .

Well any way its good to see some new blood he in the States.

Long Live The Republic of Maine:D 😀 😀

I should imagine that the chaps who previously seemed to spend money like it was going out of fashion are probably waiting for the stock market to recover a bit further first so that their assets can release a bit more cash. 😉

That said, there are a few interesting aeroplanes (flyers and projects) heading this way if the various stories and articles recently are to be believed; Glenn Lacey’s Luftwaffe, the Amjet Gannet, TFC’s Curtis Hawk and Airacobra. Even Maurice has got himself another Mustang project, according to FlyPast this month. So it’s not all doom and gloom chaps. 😀

Steve

PS – in five minutes time it’ll be L-Day minus 87. 😉

Nothing at all is wrong with it, just the ongoing healthy trade of Warbirds around the globe, the UK has done very well out of this in the last 20 or so years, maybe it’s time someone else had a go at it.
