I remember poking my head into North Weald when this aeroplane was being prepared for Empire of the Sun I think, Robs pushed the rebuild forward at a pace to meet the deadline only for this P51 not to be used if I remember correctly.
Robs Lamplaough, a real character.
New owner Robert Tyrell originated from Brentwood I think if its the same one we grew up together !

Normally he shouldn´t be allowed to keep his pilots licence after such an event (if he has one)!

He must have quite a large bank account to be able to afford to do that damage and afford the purchase and upkeep of a P51.

There was a bent propeller blade reputedly from its ‘ding’ at Duxford being offered on eBay recently.
