From the excellent Cranfield thread, I’m interested to know if this does still exist? If in store with RAF museum, where? Has anyone seen it? Photographed it?

There’s a couple of nice windtunnel models of the Hawker P.1121 at RAF Museum Stores, Stafford which would be a more practical display item.
With its ventral inlet it would look cool near the EAP when that is put on display.

But still interesting to the likes of me.
For heavens sake there are people on this forum who get all soppy and wet over a data plate, so a part built prototype would be an adults only experience.:p
It’s not just the full-sized stuff that makes people get ‘overcome with emotion’ – last September NAM’s radar profiling model of the P.1216 caused ‘a bit of a stir’ about these parts and elsewhere!
Sadly, despite several attempts with both on-board and off-board search functions I cannot find the main thread that I was thinking of – definitely losing it in that department! 😮
For the record it is still displayed at NAM in a ‘fictional’ 4 Squadron RAF camouflage colour scheme; complete with an ‘original-finish, optional nose.’ 😉

I wouldn’t have thought the componants would take up that much room, say up against a wall in the prototypes/development hangar, maybe with the missing parts ‘ghosted’ on the wall.
The P.1121 represents a very rare opportunity to display an unflown development airframe.

I wasn’t complaining. I was just trying to be practical. Given the large number of exhibits available these days, I wonder if the P.1121 pieces will never be on full view and only ever available for viewing when the store is open. I suppose they might have a place in a themed exhibition, but otherwise I can’t imagine them seeing the light of day.

The fuselage pieces are essentially bare shells.
But still interesting to the likes of me.

Thanks for that, why on earth it hasn’t been put together & displayed in the experimental hanger I don’t know
Don’t get too excited. It was never finished. There never was a complete aircraft to be displayed. The fuselage pieces are essentially bare shells.
