p38ashtray

having visited duxford a few weeks ago i purchased a p38 ash tray all i know is it was made in 1945 in Australia for the americans to send home for the folks i don’t know how many were made how much they cost then or how much they is worth 2day any ideas????

Yes I agree with Loco, What is it made from, They did a great job of it, I will ask around at my mates 80th birthday Bob on the 10th Oct (war vets will be there) If they know of that Type of ashtray Cheers all, Tally Ho! Phil.

Really the worth of it is not that important, unless you bought it for resale. To me, what’s important is that you like it and that it represents a period in history the likes of which we will never see again.

At any rate it is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen (I’m no expert, have just been thinking about getting one for my collection sometime in the near future,) most just have a cutdown artillery shell for the base and no engraving.
