“Pig Hunter stumbles across wreck
A Fijian pig-hunter has discovered the remains of what is believed to be a World War II fighter aircraft, police said.
The hunter from the central highlands of Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu found parts of an aircraft including a machine-gun belt holding 10 rounds, said spokesman Mesake Koroi.
Historical records show that on April 22, 1942, a P-39 Airacobra flying out of Nadi airfield on Viti Levu never returned from a flight.”

I know anything is possible but a rebuild from 10 rounds?.
I don’t think so. He’s probably already had them in the vice and set them off with a hammer for fun. 🙂

I hope so too but careful fellows – so far we only have evidence of 10 rounds and “parts” so it probably is as well to wait a while . I know anything is possible but a rebuild from 10 rounds?. Still an exciting development.

Yes, Hopefully there are enough remains to add it to the list of surviving aicrafts (and just no bits and pieces). But if it is true, any recovery/discovery concerning such a rare aircraft is always good news! 🙂
