Goodness me – imagine how big the bowl of water will be for those decals!

I’ve always quite liked the 80th FG markings, so I’m looking forward to seeing the finished paintwork when Hangar 11 will surely post some photos a few weeks from now. Back in the early to mid 90’s, the P-40K now on display at the Evergreen Aviation Museum, was finished in the ‘skull’ markings of the 80th. These following photos are posted by Flickr user ‘Armchair Aviator’. The aircraft is 42-9749, and these days is finished in pseudo AVG markings and no longer flown.

Could I suggest that the air to air was taken before the Biggin take off shot…and that the livery is not yet completed?

Looks the same ol’ green & grey with a red spinner, nothing new or original there. Thought it was being finished in colours never seen on a P-40 since the war?????

It’s desperate for the fairing/radio cover to be fitted to cover the second seat behind the pilots seat. It looks so bare without it. Great scheme coming up though…

Very nice! Does anyone know which aircraft from the hanger 11 fleet is at Abingdon Airshow this weekend? I presume not the p40!

Looking at the markings i think it will end up with a large skull on the nose

I think it has an engagement over the long weekend.

Mick Allen at Turweston is making a name for himself with the Warbird spraying, and certainly did a fine job with the Seafire.
I wonder if the P.40 will turn up at ‘Turdy’ !
