I was sold this as being a section of Blenheim.
The front colour is Dark Earth but the dark interior paint and unusual stringer joint had me perplexed.
At the weekend I drilled out the rivets on the stringer plate and found a Curtiss P40 part number.
The number relates to fuselage. As the ribbing terminates at the edge I assume it is from the edge of a vertical large hatch opening which for P40 would mean the large hatch on port side behind the cockpit.
Relieved to have an identity.

Elliott – it came with a provenance that said it was from a North Africa desert campaign Blenheim that was recovered and displayed at Airscene/Blake Hall.
FYI I recently cleaned up a section of Varsity to find it was an Anson port engine cowl to wing outboard panel – if you needed one..

Is there any indication on where this panel came from Brian? Russia or maybe the UK?

Thank you!
The skinning does not continue past the rib so this fits.
The offending rivets have been sorted…
Still badly bent but playing with my dollies is forbidden by SWMBO following tennis elbow solely attributable to aircraft metal adjusting activities…

According to the drawing, this is a clip that joins a stringer to back of Frame 5 ( large frame that pilots seat is mounted on). Used on P40 D, E , F, K ,M and possibly others as well.

Well that may be bacause they are not original – The lower rib is tacked in place with soft rivets! They are longer than normal as the panel is badly bent…. It was about a 1/2 the size when it arrived. They will be replaced at a later date… Clecos were not strong enough…

Some of those ‘rivets’ look like nails! I cannot believe they are original.
