I was just to the left of ARLG also with a group of four friends.
For us all it was the highlight of the show and a rare treat to be actually able to smell the exhaust gases!
There is always the chance that something may go wrong at any time, but I somehow think I had more chance of coming a cropper on the journey back on the A14 and M6 with some of the nutters on the roads than having a P-51 land on my head !

I don’t think that was really Mike’s point. Jet aircraft aren’t the only ones that might have problems on takeoff.

Ever wondered why there are rules against flying over the crowd at airshows?
Ever wondered what would have happened, for example, if the T-33 that failed to get airborne from Duxford not long before this film was taken had been taking off directly towards a bank full of punters?
Jet aircraft take off on the main runway so this scenario would never crop up.

JohnEboy…great photo !!!!!!!!!
Great photo and one can just feel and hear the sound of that lovely Merlin humming along to get that stang in the air !!!!!!!! What in the H#ll is this about someone wanting to build a service station on the M-11 at the end of the runway???????????? Saw the link on the BBC LookEast program….what a lame idea……………… is this true?????????????? It has to be halted at once!
P-51’s from the 352nd will form up and shoot up the place !!!!!!!!!!
Great photo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took this as she flew over , shame the right wing is a bit soft but still a good memory of one of the season highlights.
