The January issue of the new American car magazine Hemmings Classic Car has a six-page article about Packard’s contribution to WWII. The production of the Merlin is extensively featured.
BTW: A wartime ad is reproduced that touts the Merin use in Mosquitos, Hurricanes and Lancasters (as well as P-40Fs & Ls and PT boats)…a nice nod to the British aviation indsutry.

Interesting…..
I’ve not seen any reference to a Merlin being used in a PT boat?
Sorry, I really didn’t mean to imply thart Merlins were in boats. 😮
The ad mentions Packard engines being used in the PT boats along with the aircraft mentioned…which were powered by Merlins.

The Packard 4M-2500 V12’s were used in PT-Boats, but the design of this engine pre-date Packard’s involvement in Merlin production.
