Paging Andy Saunders….Lifstan's Way Heinkel

Of course, this maybe of interest to others..

Stumbled across this web page detailing the demise of He-111 H-3 A1 + IL of KG53 at Lifstan’s Way, Southend-on-Sea on the 30th August 1940.

Being a Southend lad, this Heinkel has always interested me, and I have seen the photo of the wreckage lying in Lifstan’s Way in several publications. However, I have never seen any of the other photos that feature on this page, including a photo of Helmut Gall decending on his parachute. Fascinating stuff! These would have been good in the recent Luftwaffe Crash Archive!

Here’s the link…

I’m going to shamelessly hijack this thread to tell Andy his Haynes Battle of Britain Manual is bloody marvellous!
Mine arrived unexpectedly yesterday and I am mightily impressed.
Anyway,sorry…….back to the thread.

The only thing that was/is red around here would have been my eyes!

An all-nighter. All day (working) on the Sussex Downs playing with Hurricanes, and now back to work at the desk.

I’m either mad, or I enjoy it far more than I ever let on. 🙂

Madly enjoying I say.

Moggy..

Not a holiday I hope? Can’t have him gallivanting in foreign climes whilst the rest of us are slaving away here on the forums! Bad form! :highly_amused:

I think Andy may be currently out of the country. I wouldn’t expect an answer at this time of night 😉
