John,

Yes, excellent thanks!

Many aircraft are repainted on a regular basis. Also, they have a very thin coat of paint, to keep weight down, and this doesnt weather well.

Been there, done that! Do talk to your supplier, and get something as durable as possible.

Weird considering most aircraft spend their entire lives outside….

As an aside (Hijacking my own thread) – Bruce, did you get the Lancaster pics I sent, and were they any good?

Odd, but Aerospace finishes are not necessarily the best for aircraft on external display. They tend to have a very finite life.

The supplier is an aerospace coatings firm. Nothing definite YET… but thank you all!

Talk to your paint supplier – whoever it is, and make sure you get a durable finish. Dont just buy the cheapest, as it wont last. Make sure it can be applied by your chosen method (which will probably be roller for something that big!)

http://www.indfinspec.demon.co.uk/bs_381c_colour_chart.htm

There is a set of colour chips at this location which includes BS381C/241 (Dark Green) and BS381C/637 (Medium Sea Grey). RAL9003 should do for the white and RAL9004 for the black. The link also has the RAL charts

We potentially have a supplier, its just the actual specs we need…. I really don’t want to paint it the wrong colour – that would be mildly embarasing:o

Suggest you contact Akzo Nobel in Leicester mate,

They are an enormous paint company, and an aerospace coatings specialist. They are supplying us with all of our paint, FOC too. Perhaps you could negotiate a deal with them?
