[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-05-02 AT 03:48 AM (GMT)]We all knew about the recent blast in Pakistan which killed about 15 peoples including 11 French national. This group of people were part of the DCN workers based in Pakistan as part of the deal to build 3 SSK subs for the navy. They were ambushed by a lone man driving a car next to their ill fated bus.The car exploded and leave a big crater in the middle of the street(it is believed that a large amount of explosives were used). Some initials reports suggested that an ‘OUTSIDE FACTOR’ could have cause the bombing and the method used is not practise by Pakistanis.Anyway the French govt are determined to complete the SSK project without any delay and promise to works closely with the Pakistanis govt in fighting any act of terrorism.Could any ones with more info post something about this incident.Pakistanis perharps???

RE: Pakistanis bombing.Outside factor??????
here are few reasons why i dont think India might be involved.
– The French have been helping the US in the fight against terror, they have M-2000 in operation around Afghanistan and have French soldiers as well. Also the French were instrumental in the arrest and conviction of the shoe bomber guy, so they were targets that would have the same effect as killing Americans would have.
– Right across from the site of the explosion there was a hotel which housed the New Zealand cricket team which was in Karachi for their last test match, and were about to leave for the venue a few minutes after the explosion, so maybe they could have been the target, they were under tight security as there had been a lot of threats on foreigners.
– The internal terrorists in pakistan have often targetted forigners(white ones in perticular) the recent church explosions, shooting of American citizens last year are all examples of Pakistan’s own internal problems. They terrorists might have wanted to give another example of their presence and decided to do the bombing not realizing the who the target’s were.
– India and the rest of the world knows that killing 11 technicians is not going to halt the construction of the last two subs. So killing those people was not going to give any extra benifits as they were not nuclear scientists. And the political fallout of such a event would be too big and the consequenses severe for India. And another thing is that Indian intel agencies are not known to use sucide bombing as a means to go after political targets(as a matter, no agency around the world would want to send operatives on such mission as they will lose credibility and lose people) such acts are usually used by terrorists only.
– Both the French and the US goverments have denied Indian involement in the bombing and have blamed it on internal Pakistani factions.

RE: Pakistanis bombing.Outside factor??????
Probably beacuse they have been the easiest target, by chance or simply because they were the first group of westerns (there´s not much tourism) which was altogether. Of course I don´t want to rule anything. It´s simply an hypothesis. But a killing of these guys won´t stop the contruction of this submarine.

Maybe you’re right,it could be and most likely Al Qeada operatives suicidal job.The questions is,why do they have to picked the poor French guys which has been assigned to built the SSK?I dont think the Al Qeada plans to conduct a covert underwater operations(which makes an advance SSK a major setback)in the Pakistani waters? Then again ,i could be wrong. You can never knows what this bastards are capable of.

RE: Pakistanis bombing.Outside factor??????
Making India responsible for that is childish and an excuse. Pakistan has a lot to do in terms of controlling integrism. For years they have been promoting it (even the Talibans were helped by the Pak goverment and supported by their secret service), now they have fed the snake and things are a bit out of control. My oppinion:
Alqaeda.
