Hi,
I did not know if this should be in the Historic or Modern Section, so here goes.
How many Hawker Tempests did the Pakistan Air Force have ?
India is said to have had 89, I have 89 serial numbers. But did any of these go to the PAF?
All were Mk II’s as far as I can find out.
So here are some serial numbers for those of Pakistan.

Pity,
Not even anything lurking in scrapyards etc.? Like Afghanistan you would expect thing to have survived. Who knows, perhaps any Halifax remains somewhere…… We can dream can we.

Unfortunately the PAF of the 50s and 60s had a pretty unimpressive record of historical aviation preservation. I am quite sure they scrapped all Tempests, Halifaxes, Furies , Attackers . This was rather surprising as some of the types were operated well into the late 50s. The only ac from that era that survived were lone examples of a Viking , a Tigermoth and an Auster and a few Harvards.
If they had any vintage airframe lying around somewhere it would be in the PAF museum by now.
Fortunately the PAF of today is much more active in this field. An example of thier interest is the procurement of the A-26 Invader whcih was lying derelict at Karachi airport to be restored and put up on display at the PAF Museum.
So any derelicts lying around within the PAF’s area of responsibility, they would be well looked after. But we can always hope that some scrap dealer decided to keep one of the airframes as a souvenir in his backyard 😀

None..
No Spitfire No Fury No Tempest has survived. I’d be guessing but I believe most of them were sold as spares to other countries.

Pakistani Tempests
India supply Pakistan with Tempests !!! – think you might need to bone up on your modern history ….
Why not refer to the ‘Typhoon and Tempest Story’ which would tell you that Pakistan received 35 Tempest IIs from the RAF at Partition, bought 24 refurbished from Hawker, and another 21 purchased from surplus RAF stocks …. total 80. India’s acquisition of Tempests followed a similar pattern but totalled 233.

Fond a website with some info
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/History/Aircraft/Tempest.html
However, all Tempests operated by the RAF in India were ‘officially’ handed over to the RIAF on 25 Sep 47 and received serials in the ‘HA—“series by early 1948. These numbered 159, including three, PR 548, 804 & 836 transferred in ‘written-off’ condition. 35 of these were handed over to the PAF along with No 1 and 9 Squadrons IAF on 25 Sep 1947. The RIAF received a further 89 Tempests refurbished by Hawker from RAF stocks of 113 held at 20 MU in May 1948 (the remaining 24 were sold to Pakistan). Once the Tempest II was withdrawn from RAF service, India was able to procure 20 more aircraft from RAF MUs which were delivered in two batches from 09 Jul 1951 (12) and 29 Aug 1951 (08) PR 834 becoming the last of 233 Tempest IIs delivered to India of a total 452 produced.
