The PalaceAir plan to operate an all luxury seating Boeing 747SP for upmarket international charters has been grounded pending extra funding, reports said.
Former motor racing ace Alan Jones promoted the scheme to run five star tours around the world, particularly to sporting events, with its first flight scheduled for February. The five permanent staff have been sacked. Jones said the China based aircraft would have a piano bar and cocktail lounge and travellers would be allowed expedited check-in.
The initiative was pitched at the wealthy with a 16 day trip to Monaco with accommodation on a 170ft luxury yacht on the harbour during the GP and stopovers in London and Hong Kong to cost $35,000 a person
