Palouste Igniter Required For Museum

Hi

Solway Aviation Museum are looking for a replacement igniter for their Palouste engine, I believe it is a torch igniter of some sort. They have found a part number on it if that helps: BN15405.

Does anyone have spares for this engine, or know where they might be able to locate one please?

Cheers

Pete

WOW! That takes me back to RAF Valley in the late 1960’s. Used them to start the engines on the Gnats.

I could tell you a story about a palouste.. A bit of 2by4, a frozen toilet sluice valve and a VC10, but I shouldn’t

Its nice for museum visitors to see a ‘jet engine in a barrow’, especially on a wet start ! :highly_amused:

That might be cause for some alarm. :highly_amused:

Nice for Museum Visitors

Is ground equipment ever ‘airworthy’?

If it’s for a museum why would you want an replacement igniter? Unless it was for an airworthy engine I’d have thought that an igniter would be immaterial.

Cheers Tony

I`ll give them a try. It`s apparently the ceramic insulator which is U/S, but I`ve not seen it.
