Pan Am shuts it's doors for the 3rd time.

I’ve seen this reported at a few other websites but not here yet. As of November 1st Pan Am III stopped operations. One of the last domestic 727 airline operator in the US won’t be flying the skies any more. Bummer. It was pretty cool to hear them still use the old “Clipper” callsign on frequency.

Now that I think about it they might have been the last airline to use the 727 here in the US. Sun Country use to use them but I haven’t seen 1 in a few years.

There are a few 727 carriers out there but most (if not all) are charter operations not scheduled airline operations.

Surely there are still some 727 carriers out there in the U.S.

Isn’t Champion Air an Amercian carrier still flying them? I’ve seen many a Champion Air 727 in Cancun over the last 3 years.

That’s a shame, still they weren’t anything near the success that Pan Am mk1 was.

I flew many a mile on the original Pan American Clippers, they were one of the worlds great Airlines

As a former West-Berliner I have a special relationsship to Pan Am and their 727s – so that news is very sad for me : Pan Am gone but not forgotten.

P.S. The other day I saw an old Honda Civic here driving in Berlin white with Pan Am Markings, I believe it was once oned by Pan Am, I remember cars liked this parked on the ramp at TXL next to an A310, B727 or ATR 42.

Their website is here: http://www.flypanam.com/. Sad news. Wasn’t the second incarnation based in the Florida Keys with flying boats? BM Airways’ website is here http://www.bmairways.com/.

I think the airline shut down due to a court injunction, wanted to sack staff but couldn’t or something like that

Commuter subsidary/franchise Boston Maine continues to fly
