Just though I’d pass this one on…

The photomerge program in Photoshop elements is pretty good at creating a single image from multiple exposures, but there are some pictures I have that defeat it. This week i was pointed in the direction of autostitch, http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html, which is available in a free demo version.
Not only does it automate everything, but it has created merged images that made Photomerge throw its dummy out of the pram.
Examples follow: if anything it’s almost too good, as the Belfast shot demonstrates!
The usual disclaimers apply…I don’t have shares in Autostitch, tho’ I wish i had! If it’s good enough for George Lucas and Industrial light and Magic, it’s good enough for me.
