If you wish to view Panshanger as an active airfield tomorrow (14th September) may be your last chance as it is closing on the 20th. The land owners have not renewed the lease so that the airfield has been forced to close, this is following the local authority identifying it as a site for 700 new homes. The land owner sensing mega money has removed the argument that the airfield is a useful and enjoyable local attraction by forcing it to close thereby making it easier for local planning to approve this site for the development.
There were a number of classic aircraft flying in including a Percival Prentice, there can only be a couple airworthy in the UK now?
Here are a couple of pictures I took today, the first is of my 1958 Fairthorpe and the resident Tipsy plus a second photo that I thought was very poignant………….Martin

I’m going to leave Duxford straight after the 2 Lancs and make my way there to see what’s still around. – it’s been very busy lately with a lot of visitors taking the opportunity to land there one last time. Hope all goes well for NLFS at N.Weald.
