Part ID Help Wanted

Having a few issues identifying the parts below, originally thought to be Typhoon/Tempest but they don’t fit any known components. Unfortunately the surface has been sand blasted, removing stamped part numbers. There are a few areas where “1947” can be seen (multiple locations on different parts of the assembly). The overall width (if this is the correct arrangement) is approximately 48″ which would be too wide for Typhoon/Tempest structure.

Any ideas?

And last but not least, a new number was found on the channel member (along with a second 9P1947), it shows “62?”

The cast support came out with “9P1947” and a second stamp that looks like K.A.?S or maybe K.A.?S

Those are not Halifax numbers guys. Ian, one suggestion would be to gently go over the stamps with a fine rotary wire brush (dremel) or lightly with wire wool. It will help bring out the relief – it does work – I have done it many times.

Thanks for your help guys, I’ll send these out to some Halifax connections to see if they can give it a go!

The close up in post 3 reminded me of a part I have seen at a Halifax crash site, but I don’t have a photograph of it so can’t be sure.

This one (casting) may be 26857….25857? It looks to be the complete part number, and if so would help eliminate Hawker. Is anyone aware of nacelle width for the Lancaster, Halifax, Sterling? Being 48″ wide, one guess would be a larger aircraft’s intake support.

Hi Whitly,

I suspect the “1947” may be an inspection stamp, there are a few other marks that I cannot make out including a part number with 5 digits. I’m guessing that it is not a Hawker part number but could be wrong in that it may simply be an earlier number missing the prefix.

Hi Ian. Well, you probably already know it looks like a tank mounting. Are there really no other numbers? Maybe an inspection stamp?
