Part of My Childhood

I don’t know who here is around my age, but if you are then surely you have heard of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Created during the 1980’s they quickly grew into a huge success with a huge toy line, long running cartoon series, and three movies. For anyone who’s curious I will provide a backdrop to the whole series if you want to know their “story”. I just thought I’d post pictures from the official TMNT website of the four turtles themselves. My favorite is Raphael, the one with the red bandana, although I like them all.

Anyway, I don’t really have a purpose for this thread other than the fact that I wanted to share a huge part of my childhood with you all. Enjoy!

Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, Television, what are these things, we had none of them when I was young we had to make our own entertainment. Depending what was in season we would go across the fields and pick incendary bombs or chase doodlebugs, V2’s or anything else that happened to fall out of the sky – it used to be a race between the local lads, the Policeman and the POW’s to see who could get there first to bag the best pieces. It is only now that I realise what the value of some of the junk would be today. We would also sneak into the local Italian POW camp, through holes in the fence, to play football or we would help them with hedging and ditching or bridge (small ones) building on the local farms. We had adventure but today’s kids are not allowed to do anything incase they hurt themselves. Oh Happy Days.

Thats enough of me waffling on – I’m young at heart though.

Oh, Arthur, Star Wars is something I’m a huge fan of as well. I own several of the space simulation games (where you fly starfighters). I also have a strategy game which is similar to the Command & Conquer type games.

Ninja Turtles has actually recently been resurrected. There is a new cartoon based on the old one, but it actually starts from the beginning again. The animation is superb, and while I prefer the old show, it’s still entertaining to watch.

The wonderful thing about file sharing is that now I have over 50 of the original episodes plus the first two from the new series (out of the five that have come out thus far).

Anyway, I hope I put some smiles on some faces with this topic.

For anyone who is interested, the official Ninja Turtle website is”

http://www.ninjaturtles.com/

It’s got info on all the TV series and all three movies, as well as all the toys. It also has great bios on some of the major characters.

(By the way, Geforce, the rat’s name was Splinter…..he was always one of my favorites too.)

Wasn’t Vanilla Ice in one of their real-action movies? That’s cool enough.

I’m a bit old for the TMNT stuff i guess… i’m more of the Star Wars-era (not the original one, but of the Empire Strikes Back-generation), and i think i found TMNT not violent enough back then. Despite all the cool options Shredder had, he never put them to good use… damn shame.

Yeah can still remember that. In school, we used to imitate the Turtles (I was always the Rodent, probably because I was smarter than the other ones, or just too lazy to run :D). But after a while the game became so violently, our teacher prohibited us to continue, ahh good old memories.
