Parts ID. Instrument and wing tip ?

Hope someone with more knowledge out there can help with the following 2 items
The first is possibly a wing tip or an item from part of the tail. I have attached photos which show some part numbers
The second is something which I thought would be straight forward but is a little intriguing (to me anyhow) Its obviously an ASI which I assumed was one used in Spitfires.
On the face it has MIXF and then a K underneath. The actual part number has then been stamped out and appears as a stamped groove.
On the back however someone has scratched on Ref 6A/1295 and 30246/42. I’m not sure why the original part number would be stamped out and then scratched on the back of the casing.
Any one come across this before ?

Yes.

The other part appears to be the top section of a rudder for a Sea Venom.

Value of the first item; up to around £200.

For the rudder piece, not so much 😉

Thank you for the help. Would I be right in thinking this type of ASI would be fitted to MKIX Spitfires ?

Yes, many times.

On the face of it, your ASI is a Mk. IXF. The Stores Ref. 6A/1295 accords with a Mk IXF instrument with a fluorescent paint finish on the dial.

To me though, at some point in its life, the dial and needle have been re-painted in a luminous finish. This would invalidate the oridinal Stores Ref. and may explain why it’s been scrubbed away. The case, however, still bears the earlier Stores Ref. which causes all sorts of confusion!

If you study the face of the dial, you will see that every second number is in a thicker paint, e.g. 32, 36, 40 and M.P.H., etc.

That’s the luminous compound, used to enable them to “glow in the dark”.
