Congratulations Ben- History was a wise choice for you, much more interesting than just majoring in journalism which I know is what youre shooting for.

Hi Brad, that’s still a dream. However, just a degree in journalism is practically worthless. It doesn’t earn much (less than teaching for example), and with history, I can really go any direction I would like to. So, I think it’s better to study first and then look for a carreer than the other way around. There are too many journalists these days, and I damn well know there are people around there who have a lot more chances of getting the job I want. The world is not looking for another John Simpson anyway 😀 (thank god!). Becoming a free lance journalist is too risky, I’d rather have the certainty of a paycheck every month, even if that includes a job I wouldn’t pick in the first place. But still some years to go. My grades were quite high, but in Belgium (compared to Britain for example) you don’t get a better job just because your grades are higher. Even if I would have the opportunity of becoming a journalist, I would really hate to spend my days in Brussels covering the news that a Walloon cow has been sh!tting on Flemish territory without a proper license (gentlement, I sh!t you not). Belgium is a lovely place, but for a journalist, rather ‘boring’.

Yes, he looked strange, but still gave me a 14.

I have to get my master though, because in Belgium, we still have the old system and a Bachelor on itself is not enough to find a job. Now I’m wondering what I should do, history ‘today’ or my favourite, the middle ages :D. Now it’s chosing between a carreer and my personal dreams.

Well done,
On almost the same line, yesterday was my 6th year anniversary of my own Bachelor degree. 6 years of pure divorced bliss!
