Summer Proves A Scorcher For Leeds Bradford Airport!
8 November 2005
Leeds Bradford airport has announced record passenger numbers for the summer just ended. The six months May to October saw 1,575,347 passengers pass through the airport terminal. This was a 12.6% increase over the previous summer and was higher than the throughput achieved in the whole calendar year just 3 years ago in 2002.
Leeds Bradford expects to reach in excess of 2.6 million passengers by the end of this year, which represents growth of around 75% in 3 years, and the Airport is confident that the 3 million passenger mark will be exceeded next year.
Airport Managing Director Ed Anderson said, “This has been our busiest summer and the Yorkshire travelling public have demonstrated yet again the very high demand for flights from their local airport. We look forward to providing an ever increasing choice of services to business and leisure destinations over the coming years.”
Brilliant rate of growth at LBA this year with most of thanks going to Jet 2.
However the current terminal at LBA has a capacity of 3 million passengers per year.
Come on LBA, get your act together and start some much needed major expansion before we lose out to DSA!
