Patriot striking nuclear missile.

What would be the effect if a Patriot missile was to successfully hit and destroy a nuclear missile? Would the remains of the missile fall to earth and create a smaller level nuclear disaster or would there be a catastrophic nuclear explosion on impact and destruction?
