Patterson World Tour – Photo guide

Hi

I am going to put up a few samples of photos from each of the sites visited oon the Patterson World Tour starting with the Pioneer restoration site in Auckland where there are three P40s , a Yak 3 and a P51 being worked on as well as a recently completed Pilatus Porter.

I am glad to see that it was not just my photos that came out with that aqua-greenish-blue tinge in the Subritzky’s main hangar. It must have been the colour of the skylights, I never noticed when we were there!

I love the photo of the Sky Tower with the effects making it look all blurry.

For those unaware, the photo of Steve pointing to the red jacket – it was decided that this would become the design for the official flight suit of Melvyn’s Rearwin!! And the other things in the case below that Steve is pointing to are dead Kiwis.

It amazes me how that WWI trench art aircraft model survived, it was rather bulky and I don’t know how the owner managed to keep it through the war and bring it back to NZ.

Onwards to Ardmore airfield itself where Steve meets an old friend and his L39 – a Cat flies for us plus a P51, T28, T6 X5 , Devon Flies in , plus a few Airtoures etc – Great little warbird strip. Very pretty too and great food in the Cafe!!

Next the Zubrinsky collection

Now this was FANTASTIC – 4 Hawker Hinds , a VINCENT (BIG), a Spit Mk16 a P40N , Meteor , Oxfords X2 Vampire etc and most of them should fly – WOW

Next on tour was the War memorial in Auckland – very nice Zero and Spit Mk16 – Mr Patterson tried shopping for some new flight suits and a few ither nick naks…………..and tries to end it all
