What a sad,sad,sight-if it was at the end of the war it would be understandable, but to see them in that state having been dumped there just over 30 years ago & still rotting away today is beyond me!!!!:(

The restoration/preservation world has enough to contend with at present,i.e. all sorts of barriers to cross from government and disinterest from the media(unless it is sensationalism),without seeing something as rare as these just sitting there. With anything coming out of the former eastern bloc seeming to be snapped up just goes to show what a long way we still have to go.

I hope one day that they could be recovered & preserved before it is too late, but who can say that willever come?

Yes they are still their along with allot of other stuff, but the problem is tow things one its on Pax Rivers which make it next to impossible to get to and two the USN owns them and we all know how great the USN is with preservation:eek: :diablo: :p

Arado 234

I remember seeing some pictures of the original act of destruction in a control column, back in the late 70’s. At the time I just could not believe such airframes would be used as infill for a runway extension, the inference from the article I read suggested they were well buried under concrete and unrecoverable.
Those photo’s suggest this was far from the case and ‘could’ have been recovered if the will had been there.
Just goes to show that nothing is completely safe, no matter how rare and we all have to be ever vigilant.

you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! jesus, how can that not be worth saving, surely the remains of them both could be made into one aircraft??? as technically there is only ONE left these two should definitely be saved!!!
