Fast & Furious film star, Paul Walker has been killed in auto accident in Southern California. He was 40.
He was the passenger in his new Porsche returning from an event for his charity.
The irony speaks for itself.
RIP.

it is a sad occurrence, and i echo your point in that it will quite possibly save laves in light of Pauls death ben, i was working tonight so couldnt attend but our local car meet pulled strings and organized a tribute showing of the original Fast and Furious in one of the local car parks big enough to hold a car meet in, apparently it went really well, till some cheb crashed his 350z into a lamp post, ironically, which spoiled the night for the rest of them as the police shut it down early

This has been a big talking point at our car meet today and I guess at others around the world. I think maybe the death of Paul Walker in this way saved a few lives today. Though it will soon be forgotten and those same people will still run out of talent at some point and proceed directly to the scene of their own fiery death to the shout of “V-tech kicked in yo !”
Regarding the the picture, if it is the one I have seen, it not only looks nothing like him, it looks nothing like I would expect a person to look after this particular accident. I will not link to pictures of the crash but in brief the car was split in half and and consumed by fire.

Agree completely, Trumper. I think 99.99% of us are educated enough to see the irony, and I don’t really see any negative comments. My only comment is based upon social media, media and Internet boards not recognising the driver’s death as well just because he wasn’t famous. A sad indictment of our celebrity culture that has crazed the world. Let’s face it, comments I’ve read such as “gutted – devastated – shocking – wrecked etc” is a little bit of an over reaction considering nobody really knew him personally. It’s a shock when someone like this dies but it’s only shocking because he was supposedly famous. To me, having never heard of him, it’s just as bad that the driver was killed too yet he’s not recognised or barely acknowledged because he wasn’t famous enough. He’s still somebody’s son, dad, husband, boyfriend, nephew, uncle etc. Hey ho.

. Paul Walker was a major star,
I feel sorry for his loss and as i said earlier spare a thought for his friends and family BUT fame is a strange thing, many of us have never heard of him so he really isn’t famous if you are out of his area of interest.
If he was a nice guy who did a lot of good then i take my hat off to him but famous-no.

Wow, I’m shocked to see such negativity in a thread like this.
Like J Boyle I’m not surprised. Just because you haven’t heard of someone doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect their memory. Paul Walker was a major star, who, as j_jza80 said, used his fame to do a great deal of good. As such he deserves our respect.
His death is indeed ironic but no less tragic for that.

Sadly, I’m not.
The posters here don’t seem to understand the concept of irony.
For those of you who haven’t had that subject in school yet, I find it sad that the star of a huge international film franchise about racing and features driving stunts and crashes would die in a car crash.
Of course, his death is no greater loss than an unknown person who dies in a road accident, but a drunk bloke getting killed in his parents Vauxhall just isn’t notable to millions of film fans.

Only a couple of negative comments really, most of us just never heard of him.Thats not entirely disrespectful.I find it weird that there is a bit of a fuss about this and apart from my thread about the deaths in Scotland -nothing.Eight people died in a helicopter crash in Scotland and diddly squat.

Wow, I’m shocked to see such negativity in a thread like this.
He committed a huge amount of his time and resources to a charity he set up: https://www.roww.org/about_us.php
He also came across as a very ‘down to earth’ guy. He was active in various motorsports, and was known for genuinely conversing with others at track meets, and taking people out in cars they would otherwise have no access to.
A video of him visiting Mines Japan.
RIP.

It would appear that he is primarily a film actor as opposed to a “celebrity” which implies one of negligible talent who appears as him/herself for publicity purposes and little else.

I’ve never heard of him, but I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in “celebrities” and don’t know one “celebrity” from another.

What is gained by posting that image on social network? Appallingly irresponsible and unnecessary and anyone who searches for it must be sick.:(
More worryingly I found it when I tried to find out exactly who Paul Walker was, not impressed with Twatter today.

I am another one who had never heard of him. I have never seen anything of the Fast and Furious franchise, and I do not feel poor for it. The truly gory picture reportedly of him after the crash thats been posted on Twitter(be warned if search for it, it’s awful, I didn’t search) should serve as a lesson in road safety.

Good point – I have also never heard of him anyway but his death as reported does seem ironic. I cannot truthfully admit to feeling any sadder than I would about the death of any stranger……

Amazing how everyone mentions Paul Walker (I’ve never heard of him either), but nobody mentions his mate that died as well. Indicative of this celebrity obsessed world I guess. Paul Walker matters, his mate does not is how it seems.

Never heard of him but condolences to his friends and family.

I once tried to watch one of the F&F movies but couldn’t stick it for more than ten minutes or so.
As you say, ironic way to die.
