On the ITV4 tv channel programme ‘Pawn Stars’ from the USA, a guy just walked into the shop with what he thought was a WWII 😀 ejection seat. Turned out to be from an F4 Phantom and was complete and in superb condition. The thing that got me was that he only wanted $300 for it!
Given that seats seem to be very popular with not just enthusiasts, I wonder if anyone has been offered a similar bargain?!

An amusing little series recently on Channel 4 (or 5??) called “Auction House” filmed at Lot’s Road Auctions in Chelsea. Twice there were glimpses of “an aircraft wing” being carried in but no film of it being sold.
Highly polished it could have been a DH Dove tailplane/elevator and is by now, presumably, hanging on the wall of some Chelsea mansion.
There was also a scale model of Alex Henshaw’s Mew Gull apparently for sale.

So when he buys stuff, he aims for the highest price?! Hee hee, a slip of the keyboard, I’m sure…

I know of a fully fitted out RAF Phantom seat that was sold by an ATC Squadron, the seller, who is a member of this forum, haggled them down to £50.

It’s all fake. These shows have people searching for “interesting” things that “out of the blue” appear on the show. Sales are mostly fake too.

It’s television, and American television at that! Don’t believe a word of it 🙂
It was valued by an ex USAF serviceman at $3500. Needless to say after that the seller wanted more than the original 300 asked for, and the buyer had basically shot himself in the foot by having it valued!

My fully kitted 3KS1 Vulcan 1st Pilot seat only cost me £250 … but that was, um … 15+ years ago now!!

Well I have an F-86 (Canadair Sabre 6) seat that I might part with – might be a bargain for someone!
