I was as guilty of being a smart alec but I honestly had no idea what was meant by flying wires on a Pembroke. Had he been selling a Deperdussin or even a Tiger Moth the term would have made far more sense.

My dear Jamie, me thinks you are getting a wee bit confused between marks, airframes and timescales. Pembroke/Prince/In service Twin Pin: all interchangeable even by me!. The object for sale includes all of these.
Your summation of the later mark I have no detail with which I can comment with authority!

Certainly agree with all that, the differences between the myriad of 503 to 505s (Mk125-128) variants were the starters, s.chargers, fuel systems etc, but the 531 fitted to the handful (seven?) of late TPs was a different beast with the longer stroke and another 100 horses on tap.
I understand swapping it with the earlier type would be physically possibly, but wouldn”t it produce major paperwork and certification issues?
I do get that this only relevant if swapping from the late TPs, not the far more numerous early Mks.

Sorry my bad Bob, the early civil, and the military CC.1 Twinpin did share essentially the same lump as the Percivals, but the Srs 3 & CC.2 had the longer stroke 531 lump, I wouldn’t think they could be interchanged – but could be wrong!
Brain dump from 1980 = Provost TMk1 – Leonides Mk12601, very similar to Sea Prince & Twin Pioneer Mk 125 and 127 Pembroke. Only major difference is Injector and mounting frame. Mounting bolts are the same. Pembroke has electric start. I converted our Provost to that standard that still works to this day. Oil cooler is different. Generators are interchangeable but may need a mounting adapter. FCU is different as stated and cold start solenoid needs swapping. ECU breather is different but interchangeable.
As I said; basic ECU is the same but changes are not beyond intelligent man!

Not sure about the Leonides 504 etc series being usful to TwinPin though, I think they used a later longer stroke version.
I flew in Martin Wilings from Jersey once what a day out that was!
Certainly a great experience!

I would agree with N66PK, which is ex Belgium Air Force C-51 RM-2 / OT-ZAB.
Pembrokes didn’t have bomb doors, so wondering if it has the camera hatches under the fuselage.
Guessing wires refers to trim or control surface cables.
A brand new Leonides is probably worth the opening price?

Bomber may not be stretching things too far as I believe one almost made it to Biafra for bombing missions.
Bit confused by the statement that this one needs a few flying wires replaced. I may be missing something but I don’t ever remember seeing a Pembroke sporting any rigging wires.
Interpretation: Control wires! or cables as us old riggers used to know them.
Remember bombing up a Varsity with mini wigits in 69/70. 25lb IIRC.

Something to shout about.
When I arrived in Cyprus in October 1960 first posting for a new airframe mechanic based at RAF Nicosia. There was a Pembroke equipped witn loudspeakers for ‘Sky Shouting’ to the recently disbanded EOKA terrorists. I dont know what became of it, probably lost its voice. Ray
