Maybe re-discovered would be better…. went on a job to Astre Air at Front Range Airport CO to recover and ship an A4 Skyhawk and discovered a forlorn but sound looking Percival Pembroke outside the hanger. XF799 last left the UK shores in 1991 and is up for sale including 2 containers worth of spares.
Also several Gnats and 9 Percival Provosts too. All available for sale.
Lovely to see these classics….wish i had some cash.

That’s the Prince, N206UP, I was asking about in my first post here, I forgot that the owner of RM-9 posted on that thread.

Here’s an old thread on the removal of the Van Nuys aircraft…probably the one I saw in the late 70s.

Good point!:)
History of RM-9 N702JM at Anoka here, http://www.wreckhunters.be/anoka-rm9.html is typical of what happened with the Belgium C.51s. RM-9 looked really quite nice in ‘executive’ colours as HR-ITA.
rkamm, would you have photographic access to the one near you?
By: J Boyle - 17th July 2012 at 18:44
I would think that most would realise….
Quite, but I hate to make assumptions…:)

I would think that most would realise that second hand ex European air force Pembrokes were more likely to be used by a two bit drug running agency than the mighty CIA cover outfit!
The ‘Inc.’ bit seperates it from the larger firm.
By: J Boyle - 17th July 2012 at 18:24
Nothing to do with the CIA..
I just wanted to make that clear…there are many here that wouldn’t know the difference.
By: pagen01 - 17th July 2012 at 18:09
I don’t think it was THE Air America….
Nothing to do with the CIA, you might want to read this sometime JB, http://www.amazon.com/Trafficking-Boom-Bust-America-Cocaine/dp/0684190249
By: rkamm - 17th July 2012 at 17:43
yea thats the one. ITs on barnstorms.com. no its not mine. I have no connection to the owner

Ten out of the twelve Belgium A/F Pembroke C.51s were brought by Air America Inc, as the type was popular for contraband running.
I don’t think it was THE Air America….
Here’s a breakdown of the aircraft used by the famous Air America by the Universitry of Texas.

Thanks for posting Mikeee, a really interesting ‘bit of British’ parked there.
Anyone who wishes to restore the Pembroke and fly her to the UK, is welcome to pop in to Sixty Sqn for coffee and cakes.

There seem to be several Pembrokes in the USA in non-operating condition.
Years ago in a sports car magazine they mentioned one at some “car guys” place, IIRC on a farm in California. I believe another is inn the Northwest. In the 70s, one was doing fishery research for a university (UCLA?) and based at Van Nuys. I shocked my hosts by being the only one around who knew what it was.
