I got all excited today – not something a man of my advanced years should do too often!
About 2.30 I heard a Gipsy engine running and wandered over to one of the windows overlooking Airbase.
Proctor, G-AKIU was out on the pan with the engine running, cabin doors shut and the wide access gates to the airfield were open! Before long it taxied toward the runway and appeared to be doing a compass check? then it taxied onto the runway but just moved sedately down the runway a bit and back to the pan. She disappeared inside fairly quickly.
Must be soon now???

Dragon Rapide,the reason for the RAF fin flash is that the markings KIU carries are those of the British air attache Washington DC circa 1947-50. Mk V Proctors were a post was development of the Mk 4 all flown in civil colours therefore the scheme is entirely correct and if I might say so interesting and different from the norm!
