As the article suggests, the YB-40 had plenty of guns, but no where near 44! I doubt you could fit 44 on a Flying Fortress….or could lift the amount of ammunition necessary for that number of weapons.
BTW: My father’s flight records say he did some flying in YB-40s once they were returned to the USA as trainers.
