Peruvian Aviation Museum

In May 2007, I went to Peru – to climb the Inca Trail………

Whilst in Lima, I met up with a Peruvian email pen-pal and he very kindly arranged for a visit to Las Palmas airbase to look at the small museum there…..

They have a few aircraft on display – including this Douglas 8A-3P..

…and North American NA.50……..

I also photographed this fascinating replica of the Paulet ‘Avion Torpedo’ VTOL rocket plane of 1902….. 😮

Maybe a candidate for the ‘Wot Plane’ thread ????

There are a few more photos on my website here …..

If anyone can identify the autogyro and the biplane, let me know and I will amend the captions…..

There are also some ‘spy shots’ taken from the cabin window at Lima airport and of the flight back to Amsterdam & London…

Enjoy…..

Some lovely photos there but a rather interesting shape to the rotor blades on the autogyro.

I’m loving the pictures on your website of the stearman, as perfect an indication of glue failure in a wing as I have ever seen! How do these places let their exhibits deteriorate like that?

Thanks for the input guys – captions duly updated.

I did a search for ‘Ansaldo SVA Peru’ – and not only did I find a photo on Airliners.net – but it was taken by Eduardo Cardenas – the very same person who very kindly met up with me and arranged for my visit…… 😮

Excellent pics.

I think the “unidentified biplane” is an Ansaldo SVA-4 ? (Italian WW1)

I’m pretty sure that’s what it is.

Just had a look through your pics, thanks for sharing.
I did not know there were still DC-8 operating, I guess they dont have noise restrictions there.

Nice set of pictures of an interesting Museum.

I think the “unidentified biplane” is an Ansaldo SVA-4 ? (Italian WW1) and I’d take a stab at the autogiro as being a Bensen ?

Presume (hope) the Bleriot is a replica built for external display.
