I saw on the news today that Canadian newsreader Peter Jennings has stated he has lung cancer. He said he gave up smoking 20 years ago but took it up again after the twin towers were attacked.
He also said he intended to carry on reading the news right through his chemotherapy treatment. A very brave man indeed.
I have a lot of respect for Jennings, we’ve had his news here late at night on our TV for many years, and he always seems to be a real man of the people and a genuinely nice, caring and sensible chap, and his show is without all the hype and hoopla of many other US based news programmes.
I wish him well in his recovery.
