Peter Lines of 17 Sqn 1940

Afternoon everybody

I’m doing some research into a new acquaintances father, Peter Lines who was a Hurricane Pilot during the battle of France and Battle of Britain, I have the following information, but would appreciate any help anyone may be able to offer:

Peter Lines born Hitchin 1919
15/03/37-17/05/37 Desford Flying School Initial Training 7 EFTS
05/06/37 – 06/09/37 Digby Fighter Training School (unit?)
07/09/37 – 07/01/38 Audax/Harts (possibly same unit but at Brize Norton)
08/01/38 – 31/08/40 17 Sqn Kenley – Hurricanes

Apparently he was shot down a number of times, and a combat report appears in the book “12 days in may”.

He went on later to become an instructor on TIger Moths at Panshangar.

If anybody can help, it would be very much appreciated.

I believe its in the process of happening – I don’t think they are particularly quick!

Has the son applied to the RAF for a copy of his father’s service record, as he is fully entitled to?
