PFA Rally 18-20th Aug (Kemble)

BBC weather is telling us that Friday looks a bit tricky with multiple scattered showers, but Sat and Sun look more promising.

This is the ‘new look’ Back-to-basics event which aims to reverse the loss-making trends of the last two weather blighted events. The August date is a change from the usual July slot, which as fate would have it, was wholly flyable.

I will chug down on Friday in the Cub if it looks possible, but do not want to flounder round in the murk. Any other forum members going along? This weekend also features the Moths at Woburn (Sun only) and historically they almost always get good weather for their event.

All of the landing pics from Kemble are now on the web site of P***T mag. Searchable by reg (or part reg) and mostly correct although some are clearly wrong (the same reg for two diff aircraft!).
Im sure I saw another nipper.

I suspect that if it was in P*sspot magazine it was taken when G-APRT was at the PFA 60th Birthday party at Old Warden. I suspect this months magazine in print well before Kemble!

No, it was the P*lot megazine, APRT was looking very cute between the Vans and Colibri 😀

OOPS, I was looking in the megazine and noticed that it was on Old Warden :p not at Kemble, sorry guys

Wessex Boy it is a Let L-200 Morava

More details of the type here…

Thanks AW, no wonder I thought it was an Aero, if it was designed to replace the Aero 45 (saw one hanging from the roof of Prague Airport recently).

It certainly looks a lot younger than it is, with production ceasing in ’69, and has good performance. I thought it was one of the new generation of good-looking GA aircraft appearing from the former eastern Bloc

Yes, it really was there…
I’ve seen some pics in the latest P**** magazine (don’t know if I can use the name here on Key 😉 )

By the way. For those interested in Luton Minors, Arthur Ord-Hume made a very interesting announcement at the PFA event! Blatant plug, see www.lutonminor.com for more! 😀

It probably arrived sunday afternoon, they were coming in quite well when we had to leave (the ferry doesn’t wait 🙁 )

I was kindly supplied a load of photos of the Croise AC001 by Nigel Hitchman off the PFA forum. Nice aircraft – I just wish the owner would bolt a spinner on!

The wing comes from a Cap 20 and the rest is home made.
So I have to disappoint you TM, it’s not a Taylor Monoplane. 😉

Damn 😀 But it’s a very nice aircraft 😉

Indead nice to see your Champ there. It was the first time I ever saw it.

Nice photos Mr Tipsy. The Champ has not been to a PFA Rally for several years, it has not flown much in recent years prior to me purchasing it last year. I am trying to get out and about with it a bit more and am always happy to meet others off the forum, so if our paths cross again say hello.

ChampMagic – did you speak to any of us on the VAC stall next door? I only ask I someone did who had the reg on his jumper. Was that you?

Guilty as charged, that was me.

While en-route back to Belgium, we stopped at Le Plessis-Belleville and there it was in the hangar.

I thought I had seen the AC-1 myself at Le Plessis in August last year when we called in on an Aeronca Club tour, thanks for reassuring me that my memory is still working ok! At the time the aircraft was more or less complete, but had not be painted.

I’m there this weekend, weather permitting. I’ll take a shufti at it.

The plane is officially a Croise AC-1.

I saw it for the first time during this years RSA rally at Vichy, we were also discussing which part came from which aircraft.

While en-route back to Belgium, we stopped at Le Plessis-Belleville and there it was in the hangar. We talked to the pilot who flew it to Vichy (also the owner?) and asked him what it actually was.

The wing comes from a Cap 20 and the rest is home made.
So I have to disappoint you TM, it’s not a Taylor Monoplane. 😉

Sorry to jump in like this, but the plane on the pic – looks to have Taylor Monoplane wings…. is it a converted Taylor Monoplane??

When I am at the PFA I accept that a person free picture is not going to be possible so I either accept it or wait or more on and try again later.
