Over on Pprune it’s reported that the Fairford Phantom will be making the move to Tangmere after being gifted by the RAF to the RAFM Hendon and then placing her on loan with Tangmere .
It does make you think that there may now possibly be hope for the deserving homes that have a closer connection with the type. In particular YAM at Elvington tried hard to acquire one from Leeming and I think East Fortune deserve one given the strong connections with the type in Scotland.

Der- Indeed they do- they acquired it in the absence of one of those perfectly good examples parked at RAF Leuchars. I have a funny feeling that if one of those RAF machines became available the U.S machine would be quickly out of the gate.
Similarily Damien – YAM also did a large amount of negociation for a Leeming example. All the parts distinctly fitted into the jigsaw – however various hurdles were put in the way at Whitehall funnily enough . With the success of Tangmere I distictly think that the paperwork will be on it’s way again very shortly. It’s not a matter of opening floodgates – I think realistically we could handle three more RAF Phantoms with collections that can house them undercover .

East Fortune already have a Phantom.
An ex U.S. one. If memory serves, it came from Yeovilton.
If I could figure out how to post photos on here, I’d put one up.
