These are some of the photos I took at RAF Wattisham at the last public photocall, 4th July 1992 if my memory is correct, it was great seeing a line-up of 56 and 74 squadron machines arranged so that the tail codes read ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Tigers’ respectively, anyone else there that day?, got any photos?, if so lets see em.
Regards, Dazza.

Arrrgh Phil lad. When I be younger, I be taking the pics of anything that flew. It’s just now that I have one of those new fangled slide scanners that some of the oldies are revealing themselves. Thank you for the offer of the slides, but on this occasion, I feel I must let them go to a more worthy cause! Want to buy my collection???

As far as I am aware there were only two in Blue – XT899 is on display at the museum in Kbley in the Czech Republic in the blue colour scheme

…shame she no longer sports her blue scheme but at least she is in good hands.
Yes, the blue scheme was considered for its respray a couple of years ago but pragmatism carried the day. It was felt that the grey would be less likely to show the effects of weathering and, as 29 Squadron were willing to offer practical help, that’s the scheme it now wears. The blue scheme is still there, though, burried under a couple of layers of grey!

It is good to see the RAF liked painting their phantoms so much though that a couple survived (although Hendon’s could go back ot her Atlantic crossing scheme).
