Phantom Preservation Group Sad News

It is with great sadness I have to inform you, Ray Walker passed away today. After a battle with Leukaemia, at 12.40 at Christies Hospital in Manchester, he passed away peacefully.

One of the founder members of the Phantom Preservation Group, Ray worked quietly in the background, never once seeking any glory. A talented engineer with restoration work to the highest standard, who will be sadly missed by all those who new him.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family

Thanks for your kind words Phil, surprising how long ago it was, I’d say he bought the cockpit around 1996. The car verses garage door and Mk7A seat made for an interesting insurance claim 😮

Tonight I am truly devastated to hear this, Ray was a true Gentleman, I first met him about 15 years ago at Bruntingthorpe as he spied me with a Phantom Instrument panel picture scouring Nevs stall for instruments for my Phantom Panel.

Always cheerful. always helpful, always a pleasure to see at Whitwick, and always mad about Phantoms, I saw him last Whitwick after he had been terribly ill, but was much better, and he seemed to be his old self and we had a chat and a laugh.
