ah well, thanks for the definition Ben … apparently and IMHO understandably I’m a post-modernist. Interesting however that I’m 100% post-modernist AND 38% modernist … damn good thing I’m not an empiricist
Must say I struggled with this question … what is it asking?
“Life has been a self-alienation of the divine and we’re moving closer to realizing our true nature.”

You scored as Postmodernist.
Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

You scored as Romanticist.
Romanticism encourages society to look backwards to find our solutions. Your rationale is that things were much better a few hundred years ago so we should thus look back to those times and replace them in our modern society. You believe in a simple life and that the complexities of the modern world have turned it upside down.

Can’t say I totally agree with this mind..
You scored as A Slave To BDSM.
Admit it, you like being tied up and being told you’ve been very naughty. You like teasing your partner and making them squirm, and not letting them be able to do anything about it. Some people think what you do is sick and disgusting, but you know it’s all in good fun.

nice thread, well my score is….
Modernism represents the thought that science and reason are all we need to carry on. Religion is unnecessary and any sort of spirituality halts progress. You believe everything has a rational explanation. 50% of Americans share your world-view.

Now that’s more like it!
You scored as Sex God. You are a master at sex. You make your partner weak in the knees, and you know it. You’ve had the practice, and you’ve read the books, but don’t get too cocky (pun intended) or you’ll get put into place.

You scored as Materialist. Materialism stresses the essence of fundamental particles. Everything that exists is purely physical matter and there is no special force that holds life together. You believe that anything can be explained by breaking it up into its pieces. i.e. the big picture can be understood by its smaller elements.

“Modernists” would have sufficed, Ben. 😀
By: Ben. - 10th June 2005 at 21:23
Well, that would be impossible, chronologically and logically.
PoMo, to quote Moe is “being weird for the sake of weird”. It means that you lost confidence in the big answers, the big tales of Modernity.
It erupted in the early 70’s, after the Prague Spring and the Yum Kippur-war (oil crisis). The 3 big tales of the 20th century don’t provide any answers: fascism doesn’t, communism doesn’t either and liberalism, well, ****-uyama thought liberalism now was the only big story still available. Non-sence ofcourse. His book is rubbish. Together with Huntington’s clash of civilizations it’s the most respected book on contemporary history. I ask why
Post-Modernists however don’t believe in any of these tales.
The only thing that comes close to PoMo is the 19th century feeling of Fin-de-siecle: Oscar Wilde, dandyisme. Wilde only focussed on arts though, he didn’t care about politics, nature, or life in general (which he all found irritating). Pomo’s are not so cynical, they are just being critical towards the big answers.
In some way, we are all Post-Modernists. Being modernist is quite naieve I guess: marxism, nationalism, liberalism. None of them has the status of gods. But that doesn’t mean we throw everything away. One can be religious, or spirutalist (New Age is PoMo), but PoMo is more than hippy BS. It means that we organise our life “a la carte”, we only take what we need from Religion (when we are ill we go to church), politics (we are to lazy to vote but we still want to blaim gov’t), economics …
So to answer your question: there first has to be Modernism before there can be pomo :D. That is however a very un-pomo thing of me to say because I am putting too much faith into chronological thinking. 😎
The phisophical holocaust erupted.

Holy **** I’m really a romantic : both on the philosophy AND the sex test
http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=2472&first=yes
You scored as A Romantic.
You’re a romantic through and through. You may not ever have very many partners, but it’s ok. You know that it’s about the person who you’re having it with, and that the sex is more of a fun biproduct – a very fun biprodict. You know how to make your partner happy, and that’s what it’s all about.
A Romantic – 70%
Virgin 35 %
Sex God – 50% :dev2: :dev2:
Proves that these tests are BS. I’d rather sit in the couch eating nacho’s than buying roses for my GF, and even if we go out to the movie which is the summum of romance (Sin City!!!) I’ll still be eating those horrible stinking nacho’s 😉

“You scored as Cultural Creative.
Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.
