Photo collection free to a good home

I have recently been left a large collection of original aircraft photos in a will. They are a mixture of colour prints and slides, numbering several thousand, and dating from about 1980-ish to last year; mostly UK, but some in the US and probablyaround 70% civil to 30% military at a guess.

I simply do not have room for them, so I am offering them free to anyone who is prepared to come to High Wycombe this Friday between 10:00 and 16:00 and collect them. If there are no takers, the whole lot will be dumped.

Brilliant, at least they are not going to be dumped. Would that I had been in a position to have taken them on myself but unfortunately work got in the way of life (as usual)

PHOTO COLLECTION: GOOD NEWS:

Hi Steve,
Just a quick word to say that I am pleased that your willed collection has found a good home.
In addition to my half million slides, I look after The John Stroud Collection, some of the Steve Piercey Collection, and that of Gordon Wansborough-White, who was Marketing Director of the Bristol Aeroplane Company during the post war period of the development of the Brabazon through to the Britannia.
It is not difficult maintaining them, it just all takes up so much space. I can appreciate your dilemma.
Aussie.

Gentlemen, many thanks for all your replies. I have found someone who is prepared to collect them on Friday, so the collection is safe.

Hi Steve!

Just received your message. I run the Aviation Picture Library and would be interested in collecting them and absorbing the photographs into the Library under your friend’s name. so as to keep his name alive. I’d also be happy to pay you 50% of any fees received for usage.

I could arrange to collect them on Friday via a friend. Can you give me some idea of the volume please? Would it go into a Citroen Picasso?

Please let me know soonest and then I can make the necessary arrangements.

My contact e-mail is avpix01@gmail.com

Kindest Regards,

Austin.

Austin John Brown.

Idea for someone who lives down South,
collect the pictures/slides from Steve, leave in vehicle overnight, drive to shoreham aerojumble on Saturday, sell items to clear, subtract costs and donate profits to charity of choice.

Thanks for the thought, but the trouble is I am up against a very tight timescale to clear what is now an empty house, and the end of this week really is the last chance, after that the house clearers must come in.
