Mr Delta has asked me to ask you lovely people a question.
He is looking for photo editing software that will also facilitate psd files (Adobe).
He has been scanning the web and so far has come up with some pretty expensive suites, does anyone know of one that would do the job and not need us to remortgage the house?

Thanks all for the help, I think he has plumped for some programe called Elements 4 (I think it’s a not all singing/dancing Photshop)
I did offer him use of the editing software that came with my poxy little Olympus point and click, but he declined, though he has just gotten himself a very expensive Nikkon, guess he could do with checking the software out 🙂

I’m quite satisfied with Photofiltre. It’s a free photo-editing programme. And yes, it handles psd files; I opened one and did some fancy editing before writing this reply. Available at: http://www.photofiltre.com/

Quite alot of programs that work with PSD but most cost major $$$
Your safest choice would be Macromedia Freehand that cost around $120-150
There’s also Coral Draw for ~ $100
Adobe photo elements is only ~$100
(if you don’t do pro editing and layered effects)

There’s almost no difference Between Photoshop 7 and CS. Aside from the wacky auto colour change and the patch tool which I doubt you’d likely be using…
Or you can go and buy a digi camera for ~ $300
Most come in packages including image editing software that works with psd format…

Here’s a plot.
Download OpenOffice, it’s a freeware clone of Microsoft Office.
But it also installs a pdf writer as part of the suite.
So, edit in Photoshop or whatever takes your fancy. Save as a jpg, select file from ‘explore’ (no need to even have OpenOffice open), right click and select ‘print’, and in XP at least the photowizard opens and then offers you all your printers and the pdf writer. Cool huh?
In passing, what do you want to pdf images for anyway? You don’t save very much space if they are jpgs, as they are so compressed anyway.

You may want to look at the Xara Xtreme. I believe it saves in a format that can be opened with Adobe Illustrator.
