Hi everyone
I am new to this forum but I post on another UK forum – I have to admit it – Yes I am an Australian based in Brisbane with all of that sun and beaches etc but hey someone has to endure it.
I notice a few of you are a little miffed with Aussies at present – Sorry about that, I hope we are not all tarred with the same brush.
The purpose of this is to warn members of a current hack that is occuring using a program called “fetch” which seeks out and downloads all of your photos without your permission.
You will notice nothing other than a continous outpouring of data from your PC when you didn’t send anything.
This is OK by me as I don’t care if anybody takes my photos but some of you may not be happy about this.
The good news is that most reputable Virus software like Nortons will stop this but keep it up to date.
I will post again soon with a slightly more personal note about me so we can get to know each other – I am really happy about joing this site.
Kindest regards
John Parker
PS I have started putting some of my photos on Webshots and you can see them @

So they copy my porn, or steal it?
Best I get some CD’s.

A simple firewall, such as Zonealarm, will prevent any program from accessing the Internet, providing you don’t give the firewall permission to allow it.
Zonealarm is 100% exclusive – it won’t let anything access the Internet without your say so (of course, there are a couple of defaults – it allows Internet Explorer, for instance – but even that can be denied).
Of course, businesses with, or wanting, networks can use products such as BorderManager from Novell (checkout RAMMS image link). Some SMEs even qualify for a free copy as part of SBS6.5.

Welcome Setter.
Don’t worry about anti-oz feelings here. I think we are all able to separate our feelings for a childish individual from our opinion of an entire nation. Being an historic-based forum most of us are only too well aware of the contribution made by your countrymen during the 20th century wars.
(This has nothing to do with Mrs Moggy, who comes from there, standing over me with an aboriginal axe)
Thanks for the info on the rogue program. Do you know if a normal firewall will prevent this?

I love Australia, and have visited before. It’s just like America with an accent. 🙂
Seriously, All the Australians I have ever met (with one exception) have been wonderful people.
Welcome!
