British Airways Sikorsky S58 N18825 was Wfu at Gatwick Heliport in 1974 and painted up there as ‘G-ABBA’ before moving to Beccles in 1979 where a local scrappy dealt with it.
Some of the remains, including a panel bearing the registration “G-ABBA”, are with the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton, and they are trying to locate a photo of the helicopter while carrying this registration.
Is there anyone out there with a photo that they would allow the museum to have a copy of to display, or know of where a copy can be obtained

Hi folks. I think Iโm a little late in answering this query, but here is a photo of the S58 G-ABBA taken by me at Gatwick Heliport on 25 March 1975. Please feel free to use it as you wish. Regards, Clive Grant

Yes, Martyn, I do have a shot of G-ABBA, taken around about Feb ’74, with a trusty old Kodak Instamatic…..!
cheers

What was the relevance of the reg ‘BBA?
The museum thought it was possibly used promoting a visit by the Swedish pop group ABBA, but I since been informed elsewhere that this is an urban myth and it was the registration British Airways used in a number of publicity shots or on models, etc, rather than using an actual registration.
